Recognise, record and report badger persecution in England and Wales
Badger Watch is a free mobile app for Android and iOS. Find out more at the app website, or see the testing project website or GitHub repository.
How it works
Badger Watch guides you in documenting and reporting badger persecution and related wildlife crime. Through questions and answers it helps you understand what to do if you come across a badger sett that’s been interfered with, illegal bloodsports, an injured badger, or other badger issues.
Based on your answers, the app puts together a report you can send to Badger Trust, whose experts can then decide what action should be taken, including following up reports with the police.
Badger Watch is intended for use in England and Wales only. Statements in the app about the law only apply there, and reports can only be accepted for incidents in England and Wales.
About the app
Badger Watch was created by a partnership between the University of Exeter and Badger Trust, with the support of funding from the Economic & Social Research Council and the Institute of Coding, software development by Chris Calvert, the assistance of Devon and Somerset Badger Groups, and feedback by many helpful users. At the University of Exeter: Dr Jessica Groling, Dr Rudy Arthur, Jacob Box, Dr Steve North, Prof Brian Rappert.
